MaximumPC:Blu-ray champion Sony has dispatched its BDX-S500U external Blu-ray writer to the US to burn BD-R, BD-R DL and BD-RE media at up to 6x, 4x and 2x speeds, respectively. In other words, the BDX-S500U can write onto single-sided 6x BR-D disks at a maximum speed of 27MBps.
