Forbes:
Looks like not a whole lot of people want to buy Android-based tablets.
In the first quarter, according to market research firm IDC, worldwide media tablet sales totaled 17.4 million units. That is 1.2 million below what IDC had projected, and 38.4% below the 28.2 million units sold in Q4, though still up 120% from the year ago quarter.
Apple continues to dominate the category, with shipments of 11.8 million iPads in the quarter. While that was down in units from the 15,4 million the company sold in the holiday quarter, Apple upped its share of the market to 68% in Q1 from 54.7% in Q4. In other words, IDC notes, “all but a few Android vendors saw their numbers drop precipitously” in the quarter.
Vision Pro is here and it’s a surprisingly capable device. Apple has also loaded the headset with a ton of options and features that aren’t obvious at first glance.
