With new models, LG aims for 5% share of the Japanese TV market

Yomiuri: "LG Electronics Inc.'s planned reentry into Japan's TV market will likely intensify competition in the domestic market, which has been an oligopoly of Japanese manufacturers.

The South Korean electronics giant plans to begin releasing 10 models of liquid-crystal display TVs--including 3-D models--in November.

The company is hoping to demonstrate to Japanese consumers the quality of its products, which has given it the second-largest share of the world's global flat-screen TV market.

LG says it hopes to grab at least 5 percent of the market share in Japan."
