TRAI slams Facebook, calls Free Basics campaign an ‘orchestrated’ poll

Telecom regulator TRAI has written a strongly worded letter to Facebook, slamming the social media giant for the way it ran the campaign to save its zero-rating platform ‘Free Basics’. So is that a spam thing from Facebook to sign the petition?

RetrospectRealm3029d ago

Maybe read the article and find out? You'd be surprised how much information is in it.

RetrospectRealm3029d ago

This really doesn't mean anything. Facebook can do and say whatever they want. The TRAI his nothing compared to the power of Facebook.

Stringerbell3028d ago

Do what they want, sure, say what they want well people have the right to call BS on them. Free Basics is as anti net neutrality as it gets, yet FB with a straight face says its not.

Ie dont piss on my leg and tell me its raining. This is not FB being altruistic and looking to help the poor as Zuckerberg states. This is Facebook looking to maximize profits and shape the internet in a way that makes them the center of it. If this goes through I could easily see young people in India referring to the internet simply as Facebook.

Being honest though is not good PR so thats why FB is putting on this song and dance of how they are trying to help the poor of the world, I dont buy it.

TRAI is nothing compared to the power of Facebook but they have no right to run that spam campaign.

Not a surprise knowing Facebook's history of data manipulation. The only thing more certain than death and taxes is that "free" is never "free."

gizmig3027d ago

Well everyone of us or every other company is running towards data only. Because next currency is going to be organized data.
