Internet demographics change every few years. Computers get better and new social networks bring more diverse social groups online. That means that with every new year, young men become a less and less valuable primary demographic for tech companies to cater to.

Of course demographics of tech users change to reflect the wider European and American populations (though they're still mostly white, even if more gender balanced). Japanese and Chinese tend to do their own thing on the tech front, at least in terms of their interactive entertainment markets.
But this change is not occurring quite that fast, and the most important thing to companies is the demographics of total expenditure.
While women (because race itself has always had hardly anything to do with tech interest) are finally now getting engaged with tech, men are spending more than they used to. Thus, the demographics are not changing where they really matter for companies: the revenue streams. And then of course we have the fact that like-minded people congregate together in the same places. Gamergate rightly or wrongly was just a reaction to what they thought was another group dictating what they should do from the outside (I cannot abide this argument that they're all nasty extremists, as it's identical to the argument that all muslims are terrorists).
But this article strikes a somewhat immature tone, so I wouldn't suggest anyone bother with it. Basically, the author just adopts a triumphalist manner while laying into Gamergate and "nerdy white men".
Perhaps this article does alert us to one unfortunate truth, however. Yes folks: the school bully has learned to use the internet!
More sensationalist writing about a bogeyman..
So this is where the anti-GG articles have gotten to...
