The Verge: With this quarter's mixed financial results, Nokia revealed that Lumia sales were up to a record high of 7.4 million. That means that the company sold more Windows Phones last quarter than BlackBerry sold phones. Just one year ago, BlackBerry was selling almost two phones for every one Lumia Nokia sold. It's a stark change of fortunes for the Canadian manufacturer.

Nokia, despite everyone talking about Elop pushing the burning platform to the bottom of the sea, making the stock value plummet, etc., has released the Lumia 800, 900, 710, 510, 610 on Windows Phone 7, then 1020, 920, 820, 720, 620, 520 and all their variants on Windows Phone 8. This is a MASSIVE number of devices, on all price points and all carriers worldwide.
So, what I get from this news is that Nokia is busy busy busy, cranking out phones like it’s famous for doing, and is pushing Windows Phone from 4th place to 3rd and making it a more viable platform. They need the platform to survive, and their doing all they can to help make that so.
I kinda feel sorry for BlackBerry. I used to have one of their phones and I liked it at the time.
