Astronomers discover oldest known star in the universe

Geek: The more astronomers search the universe, the more frequently they find the oldest known star. Back in 2007, word broke that astronomers found what was then the oldest known star, HE 1523. Now, Howard Bond and a team of astronomers at Pennsylvania State University have announced the discovery of a new star that is thought to be the even older. It’s called HD 140283, and it’s said to be 13.2 billion years old.
