Well said. I have been saying this for years. Microsoft have always let windows work with more or less any other bit of software and hardware yet apple have tried to keep it all tied to apple products. If you want to put a video from your phone/tablet to your tv you need an apple products in the middle etc.
I have said for this reason I will always use windows and at the moment I only have one android device at home which is a tablet the other half has.
I don't see the point in this os. But if windows 8 is benign called a flop then chrome is an even bigger flop.
For me Apple and Google now need to take a leaf out of Microsoft's book and look at getting chrome os and android to work on both touch and none touch devices as one os rather than 2 and apple need to do the Same with osx and ios
There are Facebook and YouTube Apps on Windows 8. The People Hub is connected to facebook and can access as much as the apps can but there are also other 3rd party facebook apps to.
As for youtue there are a number of 3rd party Youtube apps for Windows 8 but there will never be an official one just like on Windows Phone as it is owned by Google.
So far I have not had any issues finding any Apps for my Surface RT that I use in my day to day usage of my Tablet ...
I agree. I have been using Windows 8 on my work laptop since the day it came out and I have yet to find an issue with it. That Said I use 4 Metro UI apps and the rest are desktop apps on my work laptop. But I also have a surface RT and apart from Office I only use metro apps. So it really depends on what device you have depends on what mode fits you best but for me Windows 8 is going down the right road and the only OS that works and works well on all formats of devices.
I remember getting my htc hd2 and every one said a 4.3" screen was to big I then got a htc titan which had a 4.7" screen and again everyone was telling me the screen was to big but when you look at most top end smart phones they are 4" or bigger.
I don't think a screen will ever be to big as it all depends on what you want to use it for.

I agree. I have windows 8 on my work laptop and picked up a surface rt and it works well on both. The touch is really good on my surface and I've never had an issue with it. It also works well when coming to using office and remote desktop as I just flip over the touch cover and stand and it works just like my laptop at work in desktop mode.

I know iCloud can be used on a PC but you cant use it on a Windows Phone, Blackburry or Android device. That is my point, Why use something that can only be used on one type of device when things like Skydrive, DropBox, Box ect can be used on many different ones.
Ok is this guy got a very one track mind. Windows 8 has all of this apart form Universal power adapter design but Microsoft don't make the hardware for any laptops or desktops at the moment so they don't have control of this.

Well of course it is and when Windows 9 comes out it will come at the expense of Windows 7 as a lot of people keep a pc for around 5 to 7 years depending on what they need them for.

Mezzo a tablet could become a core gaming device if you can add a joypad to it and it has some AAA games to but I still think we are a little way off this yet. I have a surface rt and own a 360 usb controller dongle that comes in handy for playing some games like snes emulator or some of the games that enable you to use the controller and connect it to my 46" tv and it dose a good job at displaying them.

People seem to forget what MS can do and have done in the past. Also MS were once the top smart phone sellers with Wimo which is what Android is a lot like but it was a little bit for complex.
Apple and Android are top now and once you are at the top you cant stay there for ever in the IT world so at some point someone else will get top spot.
