“Bored” California man sentenced to nearly two years for laser strike

On Monday, a federal court in Central California sentenced a 26-year-old to one year and nine months in prison for firing two different laser pointers at a Kern County Sheriff’s Office helicopter over a six month period in 2013.

and it was a plea deal also, could have been worse. Dumb thing to do but the punishment is ridiculous.

I personally never thought about pointing a laser at an aircraft. I'm surprised that they are even able to catch people that do it. I see the danger it poses but at the same time they are making examples of these people in order to deter others from doing it.

I agree with you FamilyGuy at the end of the day if something had gone wrong when the guy was doing this lives were at risk. You don't point them at people driving a car and ok there is not as much traffic in the sky but its still a risk.

I think stupid crimes people should be made an example form to make people think twice before doing it.
