600,000 hits? That's what 10,000 page views depending on how many files you have on that page?
If we are going by hits I've had websites with 4 million hits a month on a shared host.
I'm so sorry but when one of my websites was ranking number 1 and 2 for modern warfare 2 search terms and getting 5,000 - 10,000 visitors a day and 25k - 50k ad impressions a day I was still fine on the shared hosting plan. I only upgraded to dedicated after a few out...
@ A Proper Server claim. From my experience HostMonster is more than enough to power a Wordpress blog. I've had 32,000 in a single day and while my site did get throttled everything still loaded just fine and my server was not shut down. Granted I've used my share of VPS and Dedicated Servers too.
In my experience InMotion is terrible, HostGator is decent for VPS and LiquidWeb is the place to go for Dedicated.
It happened to me in Illinois so I'd imagine the same will happen in California.
Really stupid too since I was starting to pull in some serious money from Amazon.
I wish you would have proof-read the article first.
...okay?
This article is TERRIBLE. Who approved it? I thought fan boy articles were for N4G and N4G only. Where should I start with this one.
"It's a Google social network" that's a bad reason. The other Google social networks were not focused on before. The old CEO didn't care about social networks which is why Sergey Brin is now the CEO again and has said the primary focus of Google is the social web.
"Facebook has too much of a head start...
Yeah I plan on keeping my Facebbok until the majority of my friends are on Google+ but I think if this can catch up with geeks and the college folk everyone will eventually follow suit. Again though we will see, I just know that I am planning on cutting my Facebook activity down to next to nothing once I get my invite and will delete my account if most of my friends are on Google+ much like I did with MySpace.
*Edit*
And I've ran out of bubbles. Well play...
Well I'm not saying that I think Facebook will die tomorrow if Google+ went public today. I am just saying that without Facebook making some major changes to policy and feature sets they are going to have a hard time keeping up with Google+ especially since it's similar to Facebook at first glance which drops the learning curve to almost nothing.
The Facebook valuation has gotten out of hand too, I mean at the end of the day it is just a website.
None...
I dislike Facebook because they are under the assumption that I want to share everything with everyone from the day I sign up. I also dislike Facebook because they make it next to impossible to delete your account (go ahead try to find the delete button without searching for it on Google.) The CEO is well known for not caring about security, there was an article about how he hacked into email accounts of people who used Facebook back in 2004.
Personally I think all Facebook h...
It's just sad how cheap the government has gotten, yet they still can't manage to balance the budget.
I wonder how long it will take Facebook to fall like MySpace.
No Sony got hacked because they were the easiest target. If Microsoft did nothing to protect user content I'd assume they'd get hacked as it'd be easier for the hackers.
If it works well I'm converting over to Google+ it doesn't even have to be better than Facebook when it launches because I know Google could make it better. Hopefully this attempt at social networking works for Google.
Just throw your money into a hole or burn it. You'd get the same outcome if you invested in Facebook.
Pretty scary stuff.
I can't wait to see how this plays out. If they play their cards right they could probably take out Facebook in time.
Isn't that how he got elected in 2008? I think Obama is trying to switch things up.
Thanks I'll take a look at it when I'm on my desktop.
I will be mentioning that in the next video, I think I touched that briefly in this video. However the next video will cover that more.
Also do you know how to use Fraps to record the desktop? I'm using Cam Studio right now because it follows the mouse.
I'm sorry I only speak in terms that web developers speak in. A hit = one file being accessed.
Yes 600,000 unique page views would certain help make more than enough money to cover a VPS for well over a year if you monetize correctly however I doubt that most bloggers are going to see spikes like that.
Not only that but this is article was about SPEED and not RELIABILITY which is why I am saying that I have never noticed much of a difference between dedic...
