GizmoFusion.com writes: Amazon has officially announced the Kindle Fire at their press event this morning. The tablet, which is basically a souped up Kindle with Android, will have a 7″ screen and retail for only $199. The cheapest iPad retails for $499. Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bezos has said they feel they can really fire up the tablet market after the disappointing HP TouchPad and BlackBerry Playbook.
The Kindle Fire will offer WiFi only connectivity and will not have a camera or microphone.
