That's very interesting science, and if it can protect more people from shark attacks, I'm all for it. But I disagree with the notion that sharks can be victims, and somehow as worthy of protection as people. Sharks date from prehistory, and have survived this long because they are near-perfect aquatic killing-and-eating machines. I doubt they're more sentient than a tuna. They are not endangered, not by people with nets, boats or harpoons, at least. People only swim near the shore, so that's the only place where diverting or killing them is necessary. They have the rest of the vastness of the oceans as their happy hunting ground, where they have few if any natural predators.
