Microsoft now has an OS that gives developers the ability to save huge amounts of money while providing software to multiple platforms. Phones are becoming powerful enough to act as basic computers with continuum. 5G will launch soon and allow that phone to be enhanced through the cloud. Personal assistants will be able to remain consistent across all of those platforms. They have a very popular new OS. Why would Microsoft suddenly want out?
They are better positioned than Apple or Google to take advantage of where mobile is going. Losing where mobile is is unimportant. Whether it is through hardware or strictly software, Microsoft is a Cloud and Mobile first company now.
