Ofcourse they must have the secondary plan for using WhatsApp. As it is used by a billion people already and same it goes with the messenger app they can do a lot more with these apps.

With everyone else diversifying their service (arguably spreading themselves too thin) everyone is in a rush to do the same. Whether or not this will be a good thing for consumers in the long run, who knows...
