Is that for true making money by just an youtube channel. PewDiePie that us earning $12 million by just uploading videos.

Stringerbell3015d ago

Pretty much. Youtube is TV its big business and the ones that get millions of views make bank. Even moderate sized channels, if you put out worthy content, combine that with a patreon campaign and the undoubted endorsements that will come. In the end you have yourself a full time job where you are the boss.

Is like being an actor and if you have great charisma, personality, and not afraid of the camera then yes you can make money.

blackblades3015d ago (Edited 3015d ago )

I don't like his videos, actually don't like most of those guys similar to his videos. There not actually funny and they get paid millions for stupid vids. Don't understand the fans love for them. Make it so bad I don't see Freddie Wong on there.

gizmig3015d ago

Well that's not the point, people all around the world do love his youtube channel and thats how he earn money.

Though personally I don't see any point in his videos too.

Slowly but surely we are creeping our way to Idiocracy.

"By uploading videos"

No. By having millions of subscribers and millions of views for each video.

Youtube has 0 production costs as far as it goes towards making "content." All of it is given for free as opposed to television where a station buys the programming.

They get millions in ad revenue so they share it with the people who produce videos.

Pewdiepie, love him or hate him, has a following. This is the new TV.

This sounds too good to be true. No mention of Angry Joe (surprising; he does get interviews with game developers and has the infamous Major Nelson interview)

Parasyte3015d ago (Edited 3015d ago )

Most people don't like him though because he has started raging at stupid pointless crap lately, and I unsubbed because of it.

I used to think he was funny...now I just find him annoying.

sonicwrecks3015d ago

Joe's probably in the Top 10 relating to gaming, but I don't think he's in the all-channels Top 10.

gizmig3015d ago

Yes it is true. People are actually making that much money by just YouTube only.

sonicwrecks3015d ago

Youtube is an established entertainment platform nowadays, just as in film, TV or music the bigger the personality the more money they end up making.

gizmig3014d ago

Exactly the more is your channel popular the more will be the TRP and the more will be the views you get on each video. So, the advertiser will bid more to place their ads on those videos. As simple as that.

Stringerbell3014d ago

Yep. Its funny seeing comments like 'youtube is not a real job.' Well the checks these people are getting are real enough and the time and effort they put in is real too. Its just people being jealous over those that are willing and able to do and live off of something they love.

plmkoh3014d ago (Edited 3014d ago )

Money is there if you're committed. Uploading roughly 4 review vids out of interest I've made roughly $200 with 180k views between them. But it's not easy as it sounds, getting a few hundred views in itself is difficult if your video sucks and is pointless, video editing also takes time and some learning.

You also get weird and sick hate mail, because of jealousy or simply because people can't stand to see others making an effort. The biggest plus to getting involved is being invited by the corporate world to help with marketing, it gets you places or gives you access to things relate to your interests.

thorstein3014d ago

I know what you mean. I have, maybe 4 videos total. The only video that "took off" got 1,700 hits because I was debunking a lame video game myth from the PS3 era.

It is a full time job if you are going to make money at it and that isn't guaranteed.

Editing software is a must.

Stringerbell3014d ago

'weird and sick hate mail'

I can concur. Its the thing about putting yourself out there either in written form or video. I was taken back by some of the stuff not because of its vulgarity but how someone could get so angry and weird over simple things that I wrote (wrote for a sports website).

RetrospectRealm3013d ago

Wow? Seriously? Why don't you upload more? Because of the hate mail? I honestly can take hate mail (or even ignore it) for 200 dollars per 4 videos.

plmkoh3013d ago

Nah it's not the hate mail, I don't really care about that, I was just pointing out some stuff that comes with Youtube. What makes me not bother is the hours you have to put in to make one good video: all the filming, coming up with a script, video editing, processing etc takes hours. I'm sure there are people on youtube who just wing it with one take, but they're usually the ones that sell their dignity and have no real solid material to show.
