VISR Launches Kickstarter for Low Cost Corrugated HMD

VRFocus-Google’s Cardboard smartphone-based virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) has quickly risen in popularity since its reveal in 2014. That’s largely thanks to the kit’s low cost, DIY approach allowing anyone to assemble the device with the right materials. Now a new company is looking to take that same concept to a higher level of quality. This week ViSR has launched a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign for its own smartphone-based HMD that swaps out cardboard for a more durable laminated corrugate.

Some people mocked the original iPhone when it launched, and the Samsung Galaxy Note provoked much mirth for being too big, but both defied their critics with strong sales and spawned sequels that are still going strong.
