HIV ‘killing’ condom to be sold in Australia

Starpharma (the product’s manufacturer) announced today that it has gotten approval to start selling a VivalGel coated condom on the Australian market after the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) finally granted them the necessary approval. The condom is a world-first because it has both a lubricant and antiviral compound integrated into one.

That's cool. I don't think they will find a real cure for HIV/AIDS until we start traveling through the universe.

sangreal3564d ago (Edited 3564d ago )

What's so funny about what I said? I am pretty sure HIV/AIDS is a man made disease used to control population and as long as we can only live on this planet there won't be a cure for it anytime soon. AIDS kills people but it can be prevented. How do you prevent AIDS? Practicing abstinence or using condoms. What does practicing abstinence and using condoms also prevent? Babies from being born. Once we are able to explore the universe and live on other planets over population won't be an issue anymore so there will be no need for HIV/AIDS.

Yeah, and that's when we bump into space-AIDS, and the cycle begins again.

Chances are that the first life we encounter off-world will be bacteriological or viral/other in nature (depending upon one's definition of life). And obviously if there were a space virus that would indicate that life DOES exist elsewhere if only due to the fact that viruses must infect other organisms to propagate themselves.

The bigger question is here is why do you have two accounts?

Crazay3564d ago

Cause....uhmm..."HEY WHAT'S THAT OVER THERE?!?"

**runs away***

Crazay3564d ago

I also feel it might be necessary to dock you one bub for being off topic. LOL

Crazay3564d ago

In my opinion - if you need to use a jimmyhat that kills the AIDS virus with someone you're about to have sex with, you're playing roulette with 2 loaded guns.

S2Killinit3564d ago

instead of curing it they find ways to make money on it. but i can't complain i guess.

Speed-Racer3564d ago

Can't really say it's a bad thing. They still haven't figured out how to cure it but I guess turning it off is just as good to an extent as it may reduce further infections in the mean time.

SilentNegotiator3564d ago (Edited 3564d ago )

Don't you know? A cure for aids/hiv was invented in 1918, but big pharma kept it a secret so that they can make money off of it.

yeah i totally agree. of course this is a good thing, I'll take something over nothing anyday. What bothers me though, is that we have to do fund raising, "walking for aids" just so we can get the funding for research, but we don't have to do any of that to go to war. That, is whats wrong with the world.
