I buy HDMI cables for like $4 Canadian and they work just as well as my friend's $90 cables. With HDMI it either works or it doesn't, there is no in between.
I do however find the apple little brick chargers are so much better then any 3rd party ones i used, and the cables seem to last longer (all my ipod cables had the casing come off near the connector, original and 3rd party) I hope the new lightning cable will be better built
