yip, seems pretty much last minute to me too.
this is what im talking about where they adding things for the sake of having them rather than improving other stuff to make the phone seem like an actual upgrade.
but then again, in the mobile market now, everything has become stagnant, every year its the same thing
new phone, better specs, more ram, new camera. rinse and repeat. UI stays exactly the same.

It looked to me like Samsung did not want to copy LG's placement. They have a perfect example for the placement but chose the awkward place.

At first I thought yes I agree, but thinking it a bit more, if you grab your phone and placed your index finger in that spot you will notice is a very natural position to be there and very ergonomic, unlike if it was at the center( try do it you will see what I mean), the only thing I think they could it do better is just to put it bit more to the left not so close the camera lens just to prevent scratch or stains on it.
