@RetrospectRealm- Your are welcome. Launchers are getting pretty good. Giving things to users that we never thought of rather than more sci-fi scenery and weird access points.

Please let us know what you think if you try out the Z Launcher. It will, surely, help others make a more informed decision.

Yeah, I intentionally drew slow for the video. It is pretty responsive.

I personally don't even use it on my phone, let alone my desktop/tablet.

You bring up the biggest part of the problem that Microsoft has against them and the Windows Phone itself- price. I agree, if they could start some kind of subsidy program, even if it is like NEXT, JUMP or whatever other four letter words carriers are using, it would help a lot. Also, bundling could only make things better overall. I am not sure why, even if it was a cheaper Windows Phone, that MS has not been bundling Windows Phone with their products from the get go, even if it was a mai...

I was going to comment and say not all of the good Windows Phones are reserved for overseas then I realized, after a bit of looking around on the net, that they pretty much are. That is sad but it could also be due to lackluster sales in the United States while overseas they enjoy stellar sales.

I would love to see MS just sell the phones outright for the various carriers (much like you can buy Chinese made phones for various carriers now). Just say screw it, release the li...

I am interested in seeing how this works out for Microsoft and their product in the tablet market in particular. Their Windows Phone 8 is strongest, for them, in the sub $150 market where the only competition is pretty crappy Android phones.

I am planning on grabbing the 8 inch tablet when it is available. For the price, it is looking pretty nice and I am a fan of Windows 8 as we use it in our offices on our laptops (touch screen capable).

I agree. This doesn't have a Tegra 3 but it also doesn't have a home console price tag either. Also, JXD is much much more open to the community of modders out there and listening to them and making changes.

This is the hardware that I was in discussion with them earlier this year in creating for instance. I was looking into bringing over one of their hand held systems domestically but funding failed to materialize in time.

The big difference with these devices is that they run Android 4.x and have access to the games and apps on the platform. You can install other markets, Amazon's app store and more without a hitch and with the free "Market Helper" app, you can spoof the device to be whatever you want to get more compatibility with games on Goole Play.

More and more people are using Bluetooth headsets so I wonder how long this argument will be relevant? I mean, if the range of Bluetooth is enough for you and what you do, you can simply leave the phone in one place (like working in an office) and then size won't matter.

No, it is not a PSP Go though it is similar in austhetics.

Support from the company, such as Yinlips or JXD, is pretty low at best. They don't make a version then go on and revise it and try and make money in the long run. They hit a certain price point and do their best to get hardware within that range plus their profit margin.

Android OS only facilitates this idea. Makes it easier for manufacturers to do this type of thing. They can make adjustments over 2 or 3 hardware versions each year and rename each new device, slight...

There is a sizable fanbase for Yinlips and, and their main competitor, JXDs devices. Many modders have created unique firmwares for these things, updated several flaws in other releases of similar devices (such as updating the 3D drivers to a much better version than the one factory installed).

The big thing with these devices is that they push Android developers, of software and hardware, in new directions by supplying physical controls. Look at the upcoming "add-ons&...

The price is set at $99.99 through Willgoo.com (sponsor of Gaming on Batteries in case anyone cares about that- though, GoB gets no money from any sales).

We canceled our cable subscription because we watched the same shows every day (90% are on free TV in re-runs anyhow so cable just offered a DVR for us at a cost of nearly $60 a month). I do watch a lot of stuff on Hulu that isn't on cable at the moment (that I know of) like The A-Team, Airwolf and Alf so it is worth paying $7 or $8 a month to have access to those shows and more.

I use Hulu (even have a paid subscription which is cheaper than buying season DVD's of classic shows that I will probably watch once a year or two).

If I have to prove I have a cable subscription to enjoy it, I will stop mainly because most of the shows (not full seasons though) are available on the network websites where they rotate episodes out once a week and is free.

Are you talking about the little arrows on the thumb pad and the use of "X", Square, Triangle and Circle opposite? It works and it is recognizable to gamers- what is wrong with it?

I would mention something about how controllers over the years have featured copying across the board but I would rather have an intelligent debate with you about this stuff rather than us degrading into "rip-off"/"It works" comments back and forth.

So, the original GBA, Neo Geo Pocket and Game Gear must have been knock offs of the Atari Lynx because they had controls on the left and action buttons on the right? I mean, according to your logic that is the case.

They are using a form factor that is supposedly popular right now (well at least recognizable since the Vita isn't exactly burning up the sales charts).

I agree they look quite a bit like the Vita (the JXD V5200 also if you haven't ch...

Had mine since the first of February and play it several hours a day and it is still running just fine. Not sure what you are concerned with that comment.

Of the few thousand people that I know of that own one of these varied units, only have few have had a problem with it (and that was related to them dropping it or being rough with it and under those circumstances, what piece of tech is going to survive?).

Check out my site, Gaming on Batteries, and you will see these are far from "Chinese crap" or "knock-off's" (though you can play Experia Play games on them through free software that is easily available on Google Play).

If you don't own one, how can you honestly call it "crap"? Try before you post.

The rumored price is about $60 for anyone interested. I have an S601 and think it is a great little piece of hardware- runs Xperia Play games just fine and at a fraction of the cost.
