Thats a big misconception. Africa isn't a poor continent, all cultures there aren't based off capitalism like westerns. The wars cause a lot of people to be dispersed into unfamiliar locations like in Somalia, DRC and Sudan.
And when people are living in unfamiliar territory its often hard to govern and regulate growing food when there's noone to help protect your crops or resources.
