Artificial Intelligence is nothing to fear - at least so long as those that create it remember to treat the technology with respect. It may be borderline cliché, but as A.I. increases it needs fuller and fuller sets of governing laws - like Asimov's three laws - in order to make it both safe and manageable.

You've got to allow companies to try and diversify. Many companies didn't find their true success until they tried something else. Nokia began life making paper and Nintendo sold playing cards for instance.
