Commodore USA has launched an "Extreme" edition of its modernized Commodore 64. Although $1,499 sounds like a hard pill to swallow for a machine with integrated graphics, Commodore USA says the system is "competitively priced" with keyboard-less nettops like the Mac Mini.
The Commodore 64 was one of the longest available computers ever so it was natural that it got the "remaster" treatment.

VGW: The flood of interest that followed this advertisement resulted in a staggering amount of publicity and consumer excitement. During our brief interview, Altman said the company is “already sold out on the first two production runs.” Altman explained that the company is able to produce an average of 60,000 machines per month, which leads us to believe that in less than 48 hours they’ve experienced a brisk run of pre-order sales. While he couldn’t give an exact number, he boisterously exclaimed they’ve already sold “a ton.”
