Android Overtakes Symbian

Google‘s mobile operating system Android has now overtaken Nokia’s Symbian, according to a survey conducted by the research firm Canalys. The study shows that Android has increased its global market share from 10 to 35 percent, during the last year.

In the same period, the former market leader Symbian, has fallen from 45 percent to 26 percent. Android has also overtaken Apple’s iOS, whose market share is now 19 percent.

The story is too old to be commented.

Hide yo kids,hide yo wife!

lol Definitely. But Android isn't progressing at the speed it should IMHO. Being open source sparks so much creativity yet I'm seeing Microsoft style "me too" going a little too much lately.

Growth is good, but I'm pretty sure that when you have a million different devices using one operating system you should have way more than 2x the market share of 1 phone platform using a single operating system.
