Video game developers are making movies and hollywood directors are now making video games. It's like everyone has lost the concept of what makes their medium of entertainment great.

Or they see the potential to expand their chosen medium beyond what they originally conceived. Everything is moving closer together nowadays anyway.

"Expand their chosen medium beyond"

Except all of these things are a failure of said mediums. Movies excel because they lead their viewer through a story. You see what the director wants to see. You are fed specific information. You add the ability to not focus on that information and your movie fails. People **will** be looking around and not paying attention to the story at hand. Contrast this with video games, where developers want to constantly take control away from you, make everything simplistic and incorporate single button presses that make scenes into B-tier action movies. Why make a video game if you're going to take away control from people?

All of this is a failure of each medium. Rather than capitalizing on what makes each one unique we're seeing (first of all) developers ditching that uniqueness, that strength. And now film makers are doing the same. The only way in which VR can be useful in a medium like that is through videos that simply provide an 'experience' such as this blue angels one.
