Simple it is. Mobile devices are portable and ease of accessing them.
They can't ever outrun them graphically, but they'll always be convenient.
Eventually they will outpace PCs because the desktop will die. Once we reach a certain threshold people will move completely away from desktops and laptops because your phone will be capable of doing 90% of your needs while local or regional cloud will provide the additional power needed for anything else.
The desktop will never die... no matter how much you people complain... Design a full scale vehicle 1-1 OR a AAA title game, maybe 3D wireframe setup of a building... with your fingers on a touchscreen... yea not gonna work
