"Depending on who you ask, Apple’s planned-obsolescence scheme is either a bizarre quirk or a sign of Apple’s transformation into a diabolical dystopian mega-corporation. Either way, the scheme enters its next phase on June 9, 2015."
Of course they are... When the conveniences of expandable memory and replaceable battery don't sustain a consistent profit, time to butcher the essentials. But it's okay, sheep will justify every anti-consumer design from any company (don't worry, I'm not singling your precious Apple/Samsung/Sony out) because their Mom/Dad/Roommate pays for their data. I cannot wait until Project ARA comes in to rescue us from this monolithic design philosophy.
Who the hell is still using an iPhone 3G or 3GS? I mean seriously? Those are ancient and I wouldn't be surprised if they have security flaws. The iPhone 3G came out 7 years ago.....7!!!! Do you know how long that is in the technical world? Apple is doing whoever still has these products a service by not supporting them anymore. If you have an iPhone 3G and it breaks....GET A NEW PHONE.
If you have insurance on your phones, they will give you a 5s if your phone is broken or malfunctioning. Some of my friends got a 5s after they filed insurance claims and the had iPhone 4s and 4.
You must be really upset that your ancient electronics won't be supported anymore. "When the conveniences of expandable memory and replaceable battery don't sustain a consistent profit" lol! Riiiiiight, that's one and only reason that people don't use the exact same phone/computer for decades....
