Driverless Mercedes cars are cruising around San Francisco and turning heads everywhere they go.
Hours after Uber launched driverless cars in Pittsburgh, aldermen proposed an ordinance to ban driverless cars in Chicago.
The company’s fleet of robotic cars will be supervised by humans in the driver’s seat.
With Google, Uber and Tesla working to get driverless cars on the road, the streets will soon be controlled by computers. But there are important questions.
"When should driverless cars kill their own passengers?"
The very moment the passenger opts for a driverless car of course.
Computers are inherently stupid, don't let them dumb you down by relying on them.
Most of all don't trust them with your life when not 100% necessary.
We are slowly becoming the race of the helpless. Pathetic.
Imagine this: Whats going to happen to car insurance for the driver-less car? An insurance company wont be able to tack on prices calling you an unsafe reckless driver etc etc if the driving is left up to an AI. In a perfect world these cars will greatly reduce accidents ten fold. Maybe one unintended consequence would be an increase in rates as these cars initially would be far more expensive to repair should they break down. It will be interesting to see how this turns out...
It would be awkward if they didn't turn heads!
Wait till we have a computer hacker take control or shut off all such cars in the future, then you will be begging for human drivers again. It is just a matter of time.
