and the judge is an Apple fan, the members of the jury are Apple fans, the media are Apple fans, the 69% of the tablet market customers are pure Apple fans ?
Only Samsung is such an honest company that always pays for the ideas/research/marketing of others that they like so much to use in their 'new' products ? Just look when Samsung came to the TV-market ? Right, after letting other companies open it for the mass. Easy money...
Samsung's not really an upstart and they're still suing over Square shapes which they patented AFTER squares were already in use by everybody AND they copied the Android Notification bar! They're the biggest corporate gathering of hypocritical douche-bags in the last 50 years!
This is the worst call ever made by any jury anywhere! Apple gets away with too much bulls*** and people try to justify it all the time.
I bet I could get away with copy-writing circles and then sue MS for their start button! Maybe even wedding rings!
The main things they one on were screen bounceback and multitouch patents for the following devices: Galaxy S 4G, Galaxy S II, Galaxy Tab, The Gem, Indulge, Infuse 4G, Mesmerie, Nexus S 4G, Replenish and Vibrant, Continuum, Droid Charge, Exhibit 4G, Galasy Ace, Prevail. Galaxy Tab Wifi. The multitouch patens imo are dumb. It will go to appeals and will drag out some more.
by the right decision you mean the one that was programmed into the 9 men and women who lived in apples hometown and have been immersed in the apple religion for 10 years.
was there product inspired sure, was there overly a little to close yes
should apples minimilistic design be alowed to be protected no not at all design a large screen phone without using a rounded rectangele and your left with not much to work with
USA are back to the seventies with the buy american slogan. sue the competition, use the media to ridicule the competition just like general motors used to do when toyota first started to sell in NA. Look now, how Microsoft and Apple behave towards the competition. Deja vue.
"Apple began the attack against Samsung with the belief that the Korean company copied both hardware and software patents filed by Apple. "
software patents...guess the jury doesn't know samsung doesn't make the software. Google does. so anything software related should be taken up with Google not samsung.
this just shows the jury knows nothing about tech.
but i wont buy apple products. partly coz i think they suck but mostly coz Apple has lost any respect i had for them.
Touchwhiz si developed by Samsung which is the overlay that goes over android that made it look like an iPhone sadly I do agree there is similarities between them. But 20 page jury form with 700 questions in 33 categories. The jury was required to reach consensus on any ‘guilt’ findings and then determine damages for each.
Does 1.5 days of deliberations see a little fast to have 9 people agree on all of that?
so what you saying is google can sue Apple when turn-by-turn voice navigation comes to iOS. just for the fact android had it first. or how about the notification bar that ios copies from android.
its funny how the EU never find anything wrong with samsung devices but America favored apple and gave them the judgment they wanted.
i think Apple wants a monopoly, they should do it in NA and leave the rest of the world to "knock-off" devices. i really wont mind.
i heard apple is planning on making TVs. guess sony, toshiba, hi-sense, etc should be scared coz if Apples tv is rectangular with a border around it, the asian companies are fucked.
I guess when the fight goes to Europe the Jury will go with Samsung and award damages of $1bn from Apple - lets hope the jury will consist of technology experts this time so have some background understanding of the issues rather than just be swayed by smart mouthed lawyers.
All this patent nonsense needs to be knocked on the head, I don't know anyone who thinks a Samsung mobile feels and runs like an Apple and as far as I'm aware ppl don't buy Samsung mobiles thinking it will use and work with Apple software. I'm all for pouncing on forgeries but today's patent system is just creating monopolies and protectionism. Imagine if only Tim Bernard-Lee could decide which products could run on the world wide web (including 3rd party web browsers)! If he decided Apple couldn't use it or the company would likely not exist - the world just can't work this way, new technologies are an evolution of previous technologies and ideas. Would Microsoft even exist if it hadn't copied (and in some cases "pirated" aka Visicalc) software from other developers such as Xerox (GUI), Netscape/Nexus (web browser) and many others. Would Apple exist as it copied the Xerox Gui too.
It is a sad day in the electronics engineering world, once again someone is proving the costly and negative effects of unscrupulous patents. As a E-engineer myself I am absolutely disgusted in Apple's tactics to maintain the threshold in the market.
The so called patents which Apple hold should be classed as an essential patent which Apple should be itself sued for patent abuse, since multi-touch is not a unique design or invention and in fact an open source variant was out before the iPhone was out and more to the point that their patent attempt was not allowed to be processed since it was classed a generic standard. I am absolutely disgusted in Apple at this minute AND the US courts. They are heading to mid 90s Microsoft route where they tried to buy everybody out and try to sue for menial patent disputes, only now 13 years later are they returning to more popularity.
Apple did not invent the rectangle nor did they invent multi touch, IBM did that as far back as the 60s I believe.
Of course apple can win a case against Samsung in the US court system. That was always going to happen. Maybe apple can use the $1b to actually design an OS that is not built for people with a low IQ. But then again that's the market. Idiocy at its best. Only in US. Maybe Microsoft should sue apple for copying the whole touch pad idea. We all know it's true but Tue apple troglodites will always deny it.

But price, better hardware (Apple is working on this), and open source is enough to give Apple competition from it's competitors.

Not that I agree with how patent laws work.
Edit: What about O.J.?

Glad they didn't get the 2bil, but this is stupid!
I knew Apple would come out wining. Poor Samsung they had no chance going against Apple it just goes to show who's the top dog.

apple will have its day when everything comes crashing down.
when you give judges that know nothing about tech the right to enforce
it creates unbalanced levels that will destroy everything in the future.
