The Intel X58 platform has been the king of performance basically ever since it debuted. Sure, there have been the mainstream P55 and P67 platforms, but for the enthusiast the X58 platform is the only one to consider. Even with the second generation chips out and all the performance those offer, there is just something about the X58 motherboards and supporting processors. Now, Intel is moving away from that with the launch of the X79 platform, the new enthusiast hotbed, which will have 2011-pin processors instead of the 1366-pin ones. Recently, a slide leaked detailing information on the X79 platform and what to expect when those launch later this year/early next.
