And yes, I'm aware that it was $1000+ before for the suite. They more than likely could have made it a LOT cheaper if they had wanted to, but they didn't because they had the de facto pieces of software.

And there ARE some decent alternatives to some of their software, but I'm just getting into this stuff, so I don't know what I'm going to get. I am learning how to use Adobe softw...

I want a decent alternative that I can actually buy, not pay obscene amounts per month for.

No thanks. I like a nice cheap smartphone since I'm carrying it around and risking dropping it, losing it, getting it stolen if I put it down in the wrong place, etc and not willing to pay anyone $700 to replace it (like a contract company would want...which is why I go prepay. $35/mo unlimited everything, great service).

There's got to be a point that it stops benefiting screens smaller than football stadium TVs. I thought that point was 4K.

That's a completely foolish assumption made popular by sci fi movies. There's zero reason to believe that having advanced technology means that a society won't be hostile.

Look at all of the technology invented during the second world war; that was created out of necessity from a conflict/hostility.

I want a slide phone again. Texting took 1/100th the time.

I wasn't aware that we put an end to such efforts.

Just playing devil's advocate for a minute, but I wouldn't call a one night stay at a resort with a steak dinner much of a "bribe". If it's as chaste as all that, I wouldn't really call it a "bribe" at all; just incentive for the companies to be heard out.

Now, if they get to their room and find a briefcase full of money instead of a courtesy mint...

Oh yeah, those random people on the street were TOOOOOOOTALLY believable.

I agree with the article completely; there might be some valid concerns about broad laws that treat mobile almost exactly the same as regular ISPs, but the "concerns" in the video have pretty much zero merit.

And about that Pandora comment...if said networks/providers didn't have pointless data caps ( 3367d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

You're right, that sounds perfectly neutral.

What, you WANT them to go to robot hell?

If we're talking about optional government plans, THAT might work. So long as it actually MADE money and wasn't heavily subsidized.

But "free" internet isn't going to "compete" with internet companies, it will nearly run them out of town and turn a nonessential to daily life thing (not for everyone) into a tax burden.

Instead of socializing things every time corporations do something naughty, why don't we change the laws s...

Once you put something on the tax books, though, there's almost no getting rid of it. It will be an expense and burden on tax payers forever.

ISPs will never be able to create an environment that will make populists give up a "free" government benefit. Democrats* will roll out the poor family (most likely a minority for the white guilt) and start airing a bunch of sob story commercials about how getting to the local library is too hard (in a city densely popul...

We would be better off with tighter (federal) laws on ISPs than by trying to "compete" city by city against them. They can throw a fit, but if we have tight enough laws, they won't have much say (and they're not going to want to just STOP making money, so they're not going to stop providing service and expanding).

Just sounds like a massive security risk to me. And a massive, unnecessary tax expense.

It would be tough to stay addicted to the internet without a head.

This has been an issue for a long time.

While the ease of publishing on the Play store can be a blessing for developers, it can also be a curse for users.

You could become envious of people on TV, on the streets, etc. and have it lead to depression. But I guess in this day and age, no one learns to cope with anything and instead blames anything that they can point a finger at.

Remember when Superbowl ads were just funny and not about underprivileged kids, dead kids, and kids with self esteem issues?
