Let me be the first to say that this sort of story is inspiring. While we scream and yell about some stupid poster that the Red Cross made that seems to offend sensitive souls, actual people are advancing our knowledge of the solar system instead of playing at being offended.
I occasionally read my kids this book from 1985. In it they successfully land their rocket back down from the moon using essentially this technique. Whenever I read it, I find it crazy to think my kids will just grow up thinking of course you can reuse your rocket and land like this.
