Going into this I expected a well researched argument regarding the dangers of automatic automobiles. What I got instead was a poorly researched and understood mess of an article. Least I know what to expect from this website now...

Article does fail to mention this, and I hadn't had the time to look through the paper myself. I put thinking in quotes though since it was implied that this was merely a process of automated pattern recognition and feature extraction. It's interesting and can certainly be classified as an innovation with regards to the area of application, but like you said, not a major breakthrough in the field.

The innovation isn't neural networks or learning board games. These sorts of things have been around for many years (Neural Networks have been around since the 1950s). The innovation is the approach that was taken for achieving this goal, creating the first type of AI that can actually "think" about things. Unlike other algorithms used right now, this algorithm seems to work fairly closely to how humans learn.

It's interesting that you suddenly switched views in your comment, initially outright denying that we can scientifically prove the big bang happened, "...it deserves as much merit as the atheistic view which also requires faith. We don't have the Big Bang on video tape as far as I know..", followed by a far fetched argument that the bible somehow agrees with the expansion of the universe.

The bible also claims that earth was created in 7 days, whereas we kno...

The great thing about the big bang is that we don't need a video tape. We can observe it right now. Due to the universe's rate of expansion, light that was emitted just after the big bang is still reaching us today. As such, if we look far enough, the big bang is still observable. But no matter how far we look, we cannot observe god, nor do we have a video tape of him.

800 people is a perfectly adequate sample size for a statistical analysis.

Whilst the IBM scientists mentioned in this article are certainly credible in this area, I'm a little disappointed that it names Stephen Hawking (a physicist) and Elon Musk (an engineer) as the two leading figures to sign this petition, as their credibility in the field of AI is extremely limited.

"How does it handle in the snow and ice? "
If this wasn't considered during the development of these cars, the team deserves to be fired. Answer - probably better and more responsibly than humans

"How does it make split second moral decisions that will result in the death or life of individuals. "
Since the computer reacts to situations much more quickly than a human, it would be extremely rare for these 'moral decisions' to act...

Hehe, they'll arrest me for calling ThePirateBay 'hydra'. Cut one head off and two come in its place :P

"since its all based on a theory lol."

I think you need to go back to your books and read up what a scientific theory is, because its definition breaks your entire argument.

Not entirely true. As much as I like Android, it certainly isn't easier or as easy to develop for it as iOS due to two factors:

1) SWIFT
2) Guarantee it'll work across iOS devices

The problem with android applications comes in when you have to make them compatible across various devices and versions of the operating system, which involves a lot of trail and error.

Wow.. This news is a year old. I realize American media only picked up on it a few days ago, but this was in Dutch newspapers back in 2013.

easy to find on Pirate Bay, search for the Fappening.

They're really not all that interesting though, so you can save your bandwidth.

As funny as it sounds, there might actually be some truth in this. That's not to say that farting in someone's face is going to save them from cancer, but it's not completely out the realm of possibilities that one of the gasses might have beneficial properties.

I mean we found that duck tape works against warts lol.

Pretty obvious that Germany will win. Not so sure about Brazil winning over the Netherlands though, but they'll be out for blood considering last world cup.

To be fair, with penalties it could have easily gone either way. And with 2 injured players that needed to be replaced, I'm pretty sure van Gaals strategy took a significant hit as well.
