I guess Britain is on the list due to being a small island. Ah well, better start building that water-tight bomb shelter.
I'll admit the cost issue of developing next gen games is a big barrier for most devs. And I realise there are PC exclusives that don't cater to consoles. I just feel like the whole industry, PC and consoles alike, would be forced to push the envelope if a new gen of consoles came out.
I'm talking about progress through competition. If one dev raises the bar (which is a risk worth taking for new console hardware), then other devs will have to follow suite to co...
But in my opinion the reason more developers aren't pushing the envelope is because they're catering to the masses- current gen consoles. Making a truely next gen title is too much of a risk because only PC gamers with high end machines could run it. If a new wave of consoles came out devs would cater for them (and in turn cater for high end pc gamers). Crysis came out in 2007, surely devs are ready for progress by now!
One part of me agrees with you (my wallet specifically).
But on the other hand gfx technology could be moving forward a lot faster than it currently is due to the increasingly lengthy console cycles we're seeing. Progress please! :)

So in your opinion a child who dies of cancer has lived to long? That's an insensitive thing to say. I guess you're one of the lucky ones who doesn't have a friend or relative effected by cancer.
Maybe you mean to say the world is overpopulated, which is true. But the cure for that is not allowing people to die by not curing diseases, but by not allowing so many to people to live (contraception, family size limits etc)
It's a simple yet effective little trick. The Haunted Mansion attraction in Disney parks uses it to great effect, and the original opened in 1969!
If the US government came out and said that the moon landing was a hoax, conspiracy theorists would then go out of their way to prove the government was lying and that it -did- happen. Such seems to be the mentality of conspiracy theorists. Question everything? Yes of course. Trouble is they aren't prepared to believe anything the government says even when it's supported by hard facts.
