if you paid attention usually there are incremental updates
3 to 3GS
4 to 4S
5 to 5S (has been assumed, this contradicts their past)
your admitted apple-ness and generalization made me stop. It is a poor generalization.

this is a pretty poor tutorial.
steps 2 and 3 are redundant when you already have hte icons and nova launcher installed. all you need to do is drag the apps to the home screen, long press, then change the picture. its much easier and quicker.
