Gadgehit writes: "Getac, the rugged computing solutions provider, has been trialling its new fully rugged tablet – the Z710 – with customers, and says the 7-inch format with integrated features such as a 1D and 2D Barcode scanner and high-frequency RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) could replace handheld devices in key vertical sectors. The new Z710, which Getac is inviting existing and potential customers to trial, is built to withstand the toughest environments."
"Getac's redesigned S410 could be a formidable outdoor device configured to the hilt, but the entry-level version fails to impressive on account of its low-resolution washed out display and lacklustre power."
A tablet built for extreme scenarios, if you need a rugged tablet, Getac's slate should definitely be on your shopping list.
Maximum PC: Pardon the crude visual, but we have a hunch Getac's X500 Rugged Server carries around a spare Ultrabook in its bag just in case the restroom runs out of toilet paper. Technically it's a mobile system in that it resembles a laptop form factor, but it's a also a beastly looking rig. Of course it's not intended for mere mortals who spend the day looking over expense reports, but we'd still love to whip one of these out at a board meeting and let it crash down on the table with a thud.
