480 gb thumb drive....what an idea. But should be made with 1 tb space.

RetrospectRealm3029d ago

If they could do that they obviously would. They can't though. This one has a lot of GBs but is fast. The 1TB ones are usually slow as hell.

EXTREMETECH3029d ago

No they are'nt. I have used many of these types of 1 tb hdd...they are'nt slow.

Speed-Racer3028d ago

@EXTREME - Sure there are 1TB drives out there, I have one myself, but are they that small?

Also I can't understand why people are blatantly disagreeing with comments that reflect what the article say.

RetrospectRealm3029d ago

Read the article. I was just saying what the article said. That's why this is 480gb and not something huge. It's the max the company can do right now while still being super fast. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

Speed-Racer3028d ago

"The OWC Envoy Pro mini achieves speeds as high as 427MB/s and features a USB 3.0 / USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface."

Meanwhile the drive you linked does only just half that.

"Speed USB 3.0: 240MB/s read and 160MB/s write USB 2.0: 30MB/s read and 30MB/s write (Speed may vary due to host hardware, software and usage)"

WizzroSupreme3029d ago

Wow, that's even less than a the PS4/Xbox One's base model. With memory so cheap, that's still surprising. But there's always room for the upgraded model.

Stringerbell3028d ago

heh remember when I thought my 16gb thumb drive was a big deal lol

Skate-AK3028d ago

Right? I have a 12GB and thought that was overkill.

ChrisW3028d ago

Meh... Let me know when they come out with a 480Gb micro-SD card.
