There was a time when Nintendo and Sony worked together to develop a new hardware system. Details though were scarce. So when a mysterious "Nintendo PlayStation" prototype with both an SNES cartridge slot and a CD drive made the rounds back in July, many remained skeptical. Not even Sony's Shuhei Yoshida wanted to confirm its authenticity. Now Engadget have tested the machine and spoken to the people who found it.
Sony's preorder routine is slightly different this time around.
