Microsoft will bring other cloud saving options to Office 365 & will off Google Docs in the process

Two days ago, Microsoft dropped a bomb on the cloud industry by announcing that they were partnering with Dropbox (which you can read the press release here) to allow Office customers to save their files to their Dropbox accounts in addition to their OneDrive accounts, whether that be through Windows, the iPad, or Office Online. Many in the Microsoft camp, unsurprisingly, rejected the notion and wondered why Microsoft would partner with a rival cloud company. The answer is quite simple really: to sell more copies of Office 365 and to prevent customers from switching to solutions from Google.

I never understood why anyone would chose Google docs over MS Office and with Microsoft doing this with Office, you have to be a Microsoft hater and Google Fanboy to do something switch to Google Docs.

SouthClaw3459d ago

Alot of companies are using Google services now so that is probably the biggest reason. Mail + Docs + Storage = simple

Before office went cloud which is free, Google had that almost 10 years. Now why waste money when you can do it for free and even save it office files too. Office on cloud just came few years now, but it was too late. People got used to Google Docs and some think are better than office.

Nobody cares about MS & Google to be hater or fanboy like you say. They just want easy and cheaper.

Actually MS Office was available on the cloud in form of WebApps, so it also there at the same time.

"Nobody cares about MS & Google to be hater or fanboy like you say. They just want easy and cheaper"
Maybe for people like you who never would of used MS Office anyway, but if you were to get a job at any real company all that Google Stuff goes out the Window and guess what, over 90% of business use Office.

using Office is a no brainer and to get any real work done using Google Docs your actually harming yourself. Its like using DailyMotion rather than YouTube, its just the defacto standard. Google Doc is a joke.
It's not even comparable, like I sauid originally, You have to be a raging fanboy to actually use Google Docs over Office when it comes to Serious work and your professional life.

With calm down, If two videos are in YouTube and daily motion then it's really no different unless you care about Google account.Let's be honest, whatever gets done to do resume or essay then all software are good. To me, I use Google office when I'm home because it's quicker, but it saves to Google Drive then I use when I'm outside. Again just for typing . I don't know why you got pissed off. lol!

Office is a full featured software suite. Google Docs has 5% of the features. Not sure how they are comparable.

blacktiger3459d ago

They are just comparing as typing and changing font. Let's be honest, whatever gets done to do resume or essay then all software are good. To me, I use Google office when I'm home because it's quicker, but it saves to Google Drive then I use when I'm outside. Again just for typing.
