Pocket-Lint: Canon has announced two new DSLR models as it tries to stay relevant in a world that is becoming increasingly dominated by compact system cameras.
The new mid-level EOS 700D - the replacement to the EOS 650D - and the brand new entry-level EOS 100D plan to offer consumers the full capabilities of a DSLR in a smaller package; no need to compromise picture quality for space in your camera bag. These latest models are still larger than the current crop of CSC cameras available and still considerably larger than the rather sluggish EOS M launched late last year.
Pocket-Lint: The Canon EOS 700D is, well, it's essentially the EOS 650D wrapped up in a body that's a teeny bit different than before - and nothing much more than that.
Canon's annual DSLR update seems a little baffling in an isolated context, but as the 650D has been discontinued with immediate effect it makes sense that Canon is leaning toward a slightly more premium finish.
Pocket-Lint: Canon's thinking big when it comes to small: the Canon EOS 100D is a brand new line to the EOS range, which undercuts its bigger brother 700D by 25 per cent size and 28 per cent weight. But is this mini a master of all things DSLR?
Pocket-lint: After a brief hiatus, the Pocket-lint Podcast returns with a packed schedule including a look at the Samsung Galaxy S4, both the launch event and the handset itself, having gone hands-on with it in New York.
In addition, we mull over the Canon EOS 100D, a smaller form factor DSLR camera which could take on the compact system cameras for size versus functionality.
