Sounds good to me. I still have and use all 3 systems.

It's the quality, not the quantity that needs to improve.

Hoffmann2808d ago

Same here.

Lol@ at the guys that only have the PS4 and complain every month.

RookieMonsterLives2808d ago

I only have a PS4 so I am not that worry about still only getting two games per month for it but it will be disapointing if Sony don't improve on the quality of PS Plus titles from now on after the $10 increase.

hells_supernova2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

Edit. I did not expect to see the number of games increase hoping the quality of titles to however.

LexHazard792808d ago

Sad really because you only really get 2 games a month if you dont have ps3 or vita.

Eonjay2808d ago

No one asked for more games. We just want higher quality.

bradfh2808d ago

I just want Sony to let me play the game I paid full price for that I can go online with or a small fee, sucks for people that just want to play online has to pay $60 or $70 like me in Canada.

UltimateMaster2808d ago

@DrakeFan1
You actually think the quality will increase? It won't.
Back on the PS3 days and early days of the PS4. The PS+ Install base was small, less than 8 million.
Yet, they were able to get top quality games. Now their at 20 million and all we get is shovelware...
Xbox Live's free game are also shovelware.

RomanPSX2808d ago

Why do i need a ps3 when i have a ps4 and xbox one. And for last gen i have a 360 which is a better console.

2807d ago
UltimateMaster2807d ago

@Channel-Live
Xbox charged for online gaming since day 1.
PlayStation had 2 generations of free online multi-player.
Xbox Gold gives 4 free games, PlayStation gives 6.
PlayStation has passionate gaming studios, Microsoft has game franchises. Very different business models.
PlayStation truly cares about gaming and nobody can deny that.

If you tough I'd be swayed over to Xbox's meager offering? You're wrong.
I just think that ALL online multi-player gaming should be free.

And so do I. Im not sure who on Earth expected more games than the already good number offered every month . quality > quantity.
For that matter seem Europe already had that increase last year and the US is just catching up.

lelo2play2808d ago

Unfortunately PS+ lacks in quality and quantity.

Kribwalker2808d ago

Well you get 4 games a month on Xbox one (2 360, 2 Xbox one) so I could see people asking for more games

Kingthrash3602808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

An xbox1 game is an xbox1 game.
A xbox 360 game is a xbox 360 game.
You get 2 and 2.
You can play the Xbox 360 games through BC sure but in the end you get 2 360 games and 2 xbo game.....some of the games are repeats.
OT tho, I'd hope for better games over more. I'm sure we won't get better AND more games.

SilverDemon2808d ago

ps plus offer 6 games every month while xbox gold offer 4
playstation always offer more quantity. lets hpe with price increase we'll see quality as well

Title made me think that they were going to offer up 2 cross play games across all the platforms, and that was it. this is just saying that they'd still have the same number of games for each platform going forward.

Biggest question is, is will the caliber of the games be increased, or will it be more of the less than stellar line up they've offered up most months.

Deadpooled2808d ago

I assume people would be annoyed if the same kind of quality of games were offered after the price increase. Personally I have a very cheap 1 year sub saved up from months ago to be used in November but if the quality of games does not increase I might hold off or sell the sub for an easy profit.

S2Killinit2808d ago

I cant even keep up with playing the two free games i get every month.

butchertroll2808d ago

Quote from article :

Sony has recently increased the price of a PS Plus subscription from its regular yearly price of $49.99 to $59.99 per year. This price increase is effective since August 23rd and it will be applicable to North America and Canada only.

.....

August 23?
Why lying, Gearnuke?

I don't even play online games that much so i'm just going to let my sub run out

sampson31212808d ago

some people mean it. sony will see, especially in Canada. $20 more for the year, $12 more for three months.

unless they have a good line up for september, i won't be wasting my money either. I'll buy exclusives for my ps4 ( they don't make multiplat games anymore any ways) and I'll take my money and invest in a pc .

Takwin2808d ago

I'm with these people now. I have not played a single online game since my launch PS4, and on my shelf sits 18 games, plus a PS+ membership since launch. I bought PS+ *strictly* for the games value, and that has decreased.

TKCMuzzer2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

@Takwin
Eh, I think your are just trying to get involved. You haven't played an online game since launch, yet you comment on the value of PS+. I would like to point out if you don't play your games then you are not getting any value at all whether you pay for PS+ or not. I swear people just comment for the sake of it. If I didn't play online I probably wouldn't have PS+.
Your like someone who pays for Sky sports and then doesn't watch the sports channels but moans about the price.

It's like people only buy PS+ hoping to get AAA games cheaply because they can't be bothered shelling out full price for them.

You have bought 18 games you do not play and yet you are moaning about PS+, not about the amount of money you have wasted on 18 games. Gamers.......

Who was thinking there would be more games added? I haven't seen any articles or complaints about how many games we get or if there will be an increase. This blog must be trying to create a problem where there is none, like most of these game blogs on N4G unfortunately.

game4funz2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

Price increase assumes there would be a value increase. That being said we will see if there is any with the new games.

@aenea

Gas isn't a service. Neither is food.
PS plus is a service. And services only go up if delivering that service becomes more expensive. Or in this case, the demand is high enough and the company decides to up the prices out of greed.

If you go to a restaurant, which provides a food service, do you expect the same from a 50+ price range as a 10+ price range?
No you don't. It's very simple.

The food you are served should be better at the 50+ restaurant. And I say should because it may not be better.

When you pay more for a service, you expect more. That simple.

Goods go up in price for different reasons then services. Famine, drought, providers, etc.

And since you mentioned gas. There are different prices depending on unleaded or leaded correct?
You obviously expect something different depending on what you pay. The more you pay you expect better quality.
Edit: well not everyone expects more when they pay more. Many ps players seem to expect the same or worse when they pay more.

ziggurcat2808d ago

that could be in the form of more AAA PS+ freebie offerings, and not necessarily more games offered.

Aenea2808d ago

LOL! So when the gas prices go up, you expect something else at the gas station too? Or when food items go up at the supermarket you expect the food to be of better quality or more or?

Of course not. Goods and services have always gone up in price over the years, it's the way our economies work...

yomfweeee2808d ago

You have no clue how the economy works. You know what inflation is?

LexHazard792808d ago

Food is a service if you happen to be going to a restaurant or something. So Idk what you're talking about there. Gas station is also a service especially one thats has people put the gas and clean your windows. Was that not a service provided? Theres all different kind of services. Just saying.

Aenea2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

You never walked into a supermarket before and saw prices go up for certain items? Those are not services either.

Goods and services go up in price over the years, it's normal, has always happened.

And your example of a $10 and a $50 restaurant is silly. This is more that the $50 restaurant suddenly after many years asks $60 for the exact same meal because it's costing them more to buy the ingredients, to pay their personnel, to rent the place, to pay for gas, electricity and anything else they need to pay.

And your gas example is wrong too, I'm not talking about different gas types, I'm talking about the exact same one you always buy suddenly goes up in price. You never seen that happen before either? Do you then expect something else because it's suddenly more expensive?

You think PS+ network doesn't cost them anything? That the servers don't need to be bought? That they don't need personnel to keep it running and update it? That there electricity bill hasn't gone up in the mean time either? That the dollar might be worth less than the yen, etc. , etc.?

Nope, according to you, you believe it's pure greed, no other reason could possibly exist...

-----
@rain
It's weird to expect a service to improve when the cost goes up in only 2 countries in the world!

And no, my comparisons stand, things go up in price all the time, if your rent goes up do you expect them to suddenly add a room for you somewhere? My rent goes up every 6 months by more than this yearly increase.

I get it that if you are still subscribing just for the games and see what they've been offering that you might feel shafted by any price increase, but I also feel the service has changed it's main focus, it was the IGC, now it's MP and it's the latter why I subscribe...

No matter if any of you feel my comparisons are wrong or not, do realise one thing: a price increase has happened in other countries before and nothing changed, now it's only, I repeat, only happening in the US and Canada so you can kiss the idea of any improvements on the game offerings goodbye, it's not going to happen, it didn't happen in the past when the rest of the world was affected, it's not going to happen now...

rainslacker2808d ago

PS+ is both a goods and a service. One can reasonably assume, and typically does, that should a goods product increase in cost, that the quality or nature of that product will also increase. One can also assume that should the cost of a service go up, that the quality or quantity of that service should go up.

This isn't always the case....say with the cable companies...and there are factors which include things like inflation or the costs to provide products or services(particularly relevant to gas), but if one removes those factors from the equation, which seems to be appropriate for something like PS+, then one can only end up looking at either receiving a better product(increase in IGC offerings quality/quantity), or receiving better service(better sales, increased features for online play, etc).

Aenea's comparison isn't directly comparable in and of itself, because it falls more into the general inflation/cost to manufacture category. PS+ isn't that kind of commodity, and the service itself is mostly fixed costs....which should actually decrease in operating costs per user the higher the install base is, so that just leaves the product part, which would be game offerings quality/quantity.

All I know is that if Sony doesn't manage to show a marked increase in the game offerings quality(assuming they're leaving it at 2 each), then come February when it's time for me to renew, I won't. MP service is useless to me, and $60 is getting hard to justify, even though I'm not losing money on it. I was mostly indifferent to the online MP paywall due to the IGC up until that time, and I think many others were as well. But that quality has gone away lowering systematically since launch, with the occasional nice offering thrown in. I would guess Sony is going to offer up some decent games over the next few months until the bitter resentment to the price increase fades, so people will justify the price hike, and I'm more worried that they may reduce the offerings after December, which is when many people are likely to be past their renewal dates.

Dark_Knightmare22808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

Dude there might not be a lot of triple aaa games offered through plus but theres been some just like on gold and people acting like gold offers triple aaa games every month are funny and delusional. I mean look at this month of gold its meh to outright garbage and maybe plus will be too we'll have to see. Regardless the free games are just one benefit of plus I also love the flash sales and other sales where plus members get great discounts on awesome games and also the play online thing which even than Sony is lenient when it come to that. For example never winter on x1 you need gold and on ps4 you don't and that's just one example so the people getting bent out of shape over a 10 and 7 dollar increase need to relax and quit being so entitled and yes its entitlement considering since the service was introduced in 2010 there hasn't been one price increase and people act like there shouldn't of been one after how spoiled we've been for years.

TKCMuzzer2808d ago

Price increase means their business costs have gone up. Do you expect more from your satellite TV company when they put they price up every year?

Pretty much haha. Sony specifically stated why they're increasing the prices. Why would one jump to the conclusion *Oh more games must be added*

Aenea2808d ago

Because someone suggested they might start to add VR titles in the future...

I don't see that happening for the first 2 years of PSVR... And by then they either drop the PS3 or Vita games....

Thatguy-3102808d ago

@Aenea
I see that happening bit first they need VR titles to build off. Like you they might add it in the future once it has a lot of titles/experiences under its belt. PSVR will be just another platform like ps3 and the vita.

LexHazard792808d ago

@Aenea,

I actually suggested that in one of my comments aswell. I think once the VR games kick in and there enough of them AAA and indie. That just maybe they will throw VR gamers a bone.

Im hoping it happens. I mean does PS+ offer enough, thats subjective but in order to get the most of it. You need a PS3 and a Vita. And Ive already moved on from last gen consoles, but not necessarily the games.

And I know Im gonna get disagrees but if PS4 had bc we wouldve had 4 games instead of 2.

joeorc2807d ago

@ Thatguy-310

[Why would one jump to the conclusion *Oh more games must be added*]

Well, while Quite True, I think there is a very good chance for VR games being offered on PlayStation + due to already adding this service..a VR video channel, Games also may be in the cards..because In order to play those PSVR exclusives , you need a PS4.

See this VR video service.

Sony to launch virtual reality video service in Japan

Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc. will start video service for virtual-reality devices as early as this year in partnership with U.S. content provider Little Star Media Inc., the Japanese firm said Wednesday.

The new service’s content will include some 7,000 items of news and short dramas from Little Star as well as live music feeds from Sony Music, a unit of Sony Corp.

The service will be available on devices such as the PlayStation VR, a virtual-reality headset for Sony’s PlayStation 4 video game console, the Gear VR headset from South Korean technology giant Samsung Electronics Co. and the VIVE of Taiwan’s HTC Corp.

The service will initially be offered free of charge.

It's not so much the quantity as it is about the quality. Granted there have been some real gems that I'd never have even looked at if they weren't on PS Plus but really, it would be nice every once in a while to see some AAA titles added, something like Killzone for example, while many have it, the influx of new players would be great for it's MP.

shuvam092807d ago

With the PSVR around the corner, I am expecting to see a VR game added to the lineup around the beginning of 2017...
Would be a nice way of promoting PSVR...

BlakHavoc2808d ago

So you wanna charge $10 xtra per month? Well you better up the quality of these free games.

grashopper2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

10 more dollars a year.
So really only 83 cents extra a month.

ryuuzakibjorn2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

"So really only 83 cents extra a month. " Yup. 83 cents per PERSON. If you think they're sharing a fee above $1 per person for PS+ games, I'd vote that you are most likely in the wrong. They most likely pay a developer $10k - $50k and then split that cost across the users, making mad profit.

SpringHeeledJack2808d ago

From millions of subscribers so that extra 10 dollars adds up to another of cash for Sony. They should be giving us better quality.

Aenea2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

Why? Do you expect the supermarket to up the quality of any product they up the price of too? Or when gas price goes up you expect it be a better quality gas?

Prices go up over the years for all kinds of goods and services, it happens, it's normal, it's why old people always say stuff like "back in my day PS+ was only $50 a year"...

I get it, it sucks, but with everything going up in price every year, $10 a year isn't really all that much and if you believe PS+ is now not worth it, well, then you stop the subscription...

----
@Death
No, my analogies are not silly. They are goods and services, shit goes up in price all the time, but somehow with PS+ it's an outrage. When you rent goes up, or the energy bill without using up more, do you get outraged like this too? Or expect more for it in return? No, it's normal that prices don't stay the same.

Besides, it's only in Canada and the US, there's nothing more to expect from it, this would also tell a sane person that there are other reasons for it than greed...

And it seems you and some others pay for PS+ to get high quality games, I don't, I never had it on the PS3, saw no need, I now pay for it so I can play MP games, I do also like the discounts and the occasional game I get monthly, but that is not the main reason for me...

Sony changed PS+ to a service with which you get monthly games to a service that is needed to play MP as it's main reason for existing.

Death2808d ago

Your food and gas analogy is silly at best. The closest thing to PS+ is Xbox Live. In the past 14 years the price increased once and that was 6 years ago. PS+ was optional from it's inception to the start of the current gen in 2013. PlayStation gamers started paying the mandatory $50 for the "free" games in order to play online 3 years ago. Sony has used indie titles for the "free" games and people have been either praising the decision to go indie or complaining. I'm not sure increasing the price was what gamers were asking for. From what I have seen, the revenue gained from mandatory PS+ for online has been used to create more subscription services and not making the network better for gaming.

As nice is it is to simply say "don't pay" if you aren't happy, the reality is many people have invested into the PlayStation ecosystem for the past three years. Stopping isn't really an option without losing games and features accumulated since the start of this gen. The only thing left is to voice your concern and hope Sony hears it. If you are happy with the quality of games released on the service and enjoy paying more money that is fantastic. I'm not sure why you are trying so hard to muffle the voices of those that enjoy the system but want higher quality games and don't want to pay more.

Silly gameAr2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

How do you know that's not what the price hike is or? How do you know they're not adding new features? No one knows what the price increase will bring.

Aenea2808d ago

Since the prices only went up in the US and Canada I am totally not expecting anything to change, no.

Besides, the prices went up in Europe last year as well... Nothing changed...

I find it weird that people are expecting changes when it's only 2 countries that are affected. I also don't get why people can't seem to think about any other reason why Sony has done this than greed or that they are going to change things. It's like people don't know how the world or businesses work...

ziggurcat2808d ago

It's going up $10 US per year, not month.

Aenea2808d ago

Yet some people react like it's going up $50 a week!

The Name "Embracer Group" Is No More, But Don't Say You Didn't See It Coming

A reckless buying spree only to jeopardize it all, Embracer Group's heinous practices have done a lot of damage; it had the downfall coming.

mastershredder3d ago

THEY. It's a collective of investors that give no f-s unless the monkey dances for money and delivers. downfall? Urm.. dude... do you understand this is a rinse and repeat process? They won and bailed before plane crashed, the working industry did not. People saw investment money and sold themselves and the industry out like hot real estate, and now look at it. Honestly, you should be more upset with the studios that jumped on board for the carrots rather than those that were handing them out.

Knightofelemia3d ago

Seen it coming. When a fool spends money with out a plan and purchases every thing they see. Those they have purchased feel the ramifications. Now Embracer has to sell off studios to make up for their stupidity. I am just glad Gearbox went to Take Two and not to someone like say Tencent. What Embracer did was stupid and because of their stupidity bottom feeders like Tencent will be circling around picking at the scraps. Next time if there is a next time fully plan something out before whipping out the cheque book. Figure out how you can utilize the company, figure out how they can fit in, figure out how you can work with them and how their games can fit in nicely with the purchase. Being a dumbass with out a plan and a big cheque book does bite you and those around you in the ass.

Inverno1d 10h ago

It's splitting up, the people who caused this shite show will still be around. Who knows how much more damage they will cause. Or where most will move onto in the future. Industry gotta be careful, you sign yourselves away thinking you'll have funding and security only to be bought up to be fed into a grinder.

How Many More Victims, Like Garry's Mod, Will Nintendo's Hurtful Crusade Create?

Hanzala from eXputer: "As Nintendo takes out 20 years' worth of stuff from Garry's Mod, I watch in shock, thinking why it continues to hurt and discourage its fans."

RiseNShine2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

The irony that some of the most disgusting business practices come from companies like Disney or Nintendo, i can't even begin to understand what terrible damage was Garrys Mod making to Nintendo bottom line, imho they're getting pretty nervous about where they're heading in the future, handhelds are no longer something exclusive to Nintendo, from Steam Deck to many others, now you can play the latest games and pay a fraction of the price on Steam sales, so it's up to their exclusives, which just on their own would make hard to justify purchasing a closed overpriced hardware with outrageous price policies (Super Mario Odyssey is still 60 euro 6 years later!), and as a home console they're always underperforming compared to Sony or Xbox.

gold_drake1d 20h ago (Edited 1d 20h ago )

i cam guarantee you, that their exclusives alone is what drives switch sales. they sell in the 10s of millions of copies.

nintendo created their franchises to be sort of nostalgia driven, exclusive only on nintendo.

people will always buy the pkmn games as they always bring in new younger fans amd is family friendly

mario kart, the same thing, mario games in general.

zelda games are system sellers. animal crossing for the casual gamers.

nintendo doesnt need third vame devs essentially. they made sure with the switch and the limitations that they looked more to pc ps and xbox.

its sad, but nintendo is more than fine with what they're doing. they positioned themselves to appeal to the more casual gamers.

but to your point, im not sure why they're doing this rly.

Inverno1d 18h ago

Look at how they handled Nintendo games being streamed or uploaded on YouTube in the past. They killed Yuzu and Citra even when they had nothing to do with ToTK being leaked, not to mention it was basically unplayable on emulation the week it was leaked. Smash Bros tournament, that was fairly recent. They shut down their online services without any care for purchases made. I bought a switch after skipping their last 2 consoles and handhelds but I don't plan on buying anything Nintendo in the future. They take things to the extremes, they legitimately hate their fans. They're honestly right up there with the likes of Acti, EA, and Ubi, only difference is that they disguise themselves as being family friendly all the while being shady.
