God of War New Details: Bigger Than Ever Boss Fights, 100 Enemies On Screen, Story Info And More

That will apparently be a pretty big story point- Barlog confirmed that in this game, Kratos is looking for a second chance, and trying to get as far away from his haunted past as he can- and for the first time, he is not trying to redo the past, like he has been throughout the series, but trying to move forward instead, and seek a redo, a redemption.

God of Dynasty Warriors? Hmmmm... ; )

littlezizu2862d ago (Edited 2862d ago )

It's gonna be amazing. God of war always had some of the best boss fights ever. from battle against gaints like Kronos to visual spectacle fight against Possiden. Hyped

Omran2862d ago

I found hercules fight pretty Epic also

littlezizu2861d ago

It was epic indeed especially final moments when he beat the shit out of him.
@chow Ya hades fight was great too.

Haru2862d ago

Nobody does boss fights better than God of War!

Dabigkahuna762862d ago

On playstation you right but try the Zelda games

sullynathan2862d ago

Dark souls does and it doesn't need QTEs either. Metal Gear Rising also does it well too.

zeuanimals2861d ago

Depends what you're looking for in a boss fight. GOW does spectacle like no other, DMC does style like no other, and the Souls games give the best feeling of accomplishment like no other.

GTgamer2861d ago

@sullynathan
I love the souls franchise but the boss fights just consist of you attacking then rolling they don't take it to different levels like GOW which forces you to completely change your playstyle and metal rising was awesome but the boss fights were easy as hell when you realized that parry is king. Don't know why you bring up QTE likes it's a bad thing then put MGS rising as another example even tho that game is filled with QTE too, I don't see a problem with QTE it allows you to finish a boss off in the most epic fashion ever and it feels good when done right as opposed to dark soul bosses just falling down and vanishing that feels less rewarding.

DarXyde2861d ago (Edited 2861d ago )

While I love the series' boss battles, I thought Shadow of the Colossus and some of Metal Gear Solid's were better. The Boss, The End, Psycho Mantis, RAY, and Null to name a few were incredibly memorable.

Let's not forget Uncharted 4's last boss fight, which was an absolute thrill on Crushing.

Haru2861d ago

@DarXyde

Uncharted 4 end boss fight was memorable indeed but it could've been a lot better...I wish they gave us more control over Nathan instead of just two dodge and attack button I felt like it was limited and more of a qte than a real battle, tho I still enjoyed it a lot!

DigitallyAfflicted2861d ago

Thats why he is a god of war :)

sullynathan2861d ago (Edited 2861d ago )

@gtgamer what a crock of bullshit. GOW does not force you to change your style, if anything it also pushes rolling too. I've played every GOW game (except ascension) and I've played the main souls games and I can easily say that Dark Souls does better boss fights.
The souls games do scale very well too without the need of QTEs and lets not act like if souls games combat doesn't have far more variety than god of wars.
Also, these bosses in the souls games are better than the best bosses in the god of war series. God of war boss fights are epic because they take the control from you to constantly change perspectives or to put you in bad situations.

Chaos Witch Quelaag
Ornstein and Smough
Artorias the Abysswalker
Manus, Father of the Abyss
Sanctuary Guardian
Smelter Demon
Sinh, the Slumbering Dragon
Fume Knight
Burnt Ivory King
Old Demon King
Dragonslayer Armour
Champion Gundyr
Lothric, Younger Prince and Lorian, Elder Prince
Nameless King
Soul of Cinder

Yes it is true that MGSR was worsened by QTEs but most boss fights were done in a very fast paced way and required more skill to fight a boss than most GOW games.

Just imagine when they reveal one of the boss fights in a trailer. They've done it with a couple of the other games, and it's always been pretty impressive.:)

Haru2861d ago

I hope they show us Kratos fighting that giant white snake that we've seen in the end of the E3 trailer, omg I can already imagine how epic it would be!!!

starchild2861d ago

Agreed. I've always loved the boss fights in the God of War games. The scale and just the epic badassery of it all was one of the best things about the games.

I can't wait to see what epic boss battle God of War IV opens with

nevin12862d ago

I thought it was the troll.

jb2272862d ago

Nah it definitely won't be that one...Barlog said the troll wasn't even a boss, it was a basic enemy. Seems to be on the level of the cyclops trolls from the previous games.

I'm thinking that Midgard Serpent or the Dragon from the distance may be the opening boss...Most interesting to me really is how they connect the prior games to this one...what happened after he got off that mountain?

ColonelHugh2862d ago

@jb227
"that Midgard Serpent"

You mean Jormundgandr, the serpent that surrounds Midgard, our world.

The Midgard Serpents were already killed by Sephiroth and Cloud and company. Kratos fought snakes bigger than those in his first boss fight of the series.

GTgamer2861d ago

The troll is basically what the cyclops was in previous GOW games not a boss just big enemy.

jessionpc2861d ago

The mom nagging.

OH OHOHOH HOOHOH HOHOH

man that was low class...

ILostMyMind2862d ago

One hundred enemies? Give me my Blades of Chaos.

Imalwaysright2862d ago

And the position of the camera to be like in previous games when we're fighting as many enemies otherwise it will be frustrating to be killed by enemies that we can't see.

nix2861d ago (Edited 2861d ago )

But remember Heavenly Sword? It had hundreds of enemies at one time too. First time you had to blow them away with a canon. You had to kill 700 to complete the level. Then next you had to fight them person to person. I think you had to kill 500 to finish that level. It never felt hindered due to the camera angle.

I'm really hoping the theory that he finds redemption and humility in this game and becomes so revered that he essentially becomes Odin comes true.

Garry's Mod Removing All Nintendo Content From Steam Workshop After Takedown Request

The developer of Garry's Mod has announced it is in the process of removing all Nintendo-related content from Steam Workshop after receiving a takedown request from Nintendo.

gurp1d 5h ago

first emulation, now this
even though I don't play Garry's Mod, it is still bad

Inverno1d 4h ago

I was reading it's all just false reports from a troll who's done things like this in the past and not Nintendo themselves.

-Foxtrot19h ago

Well the games creator Gary Newman confirmed it himself on Twitter.

Inverno12h ago

Seems that's still being debated.
