Naughty Dog Dev Confirms New Game, Will Possibly Have Engaging Third-Person Action

But the big question remains. Is it The Last of Us 2 or a new IP?

Probably a new third person cover action game to replace Uncharted

Buddy cop game or a spy one like James Bond

Erik73572894d ago (Edited 2894d ago )

I'm thinking it could be Last of Us 2, Jack and dexter because of the recent new concept art leak and naughty dog was actually working on one before last of us but got put on hold or canceled , or maybe crash bandicoot because of the Easter egg and all the teases Sony has done for the IP...

But honestly I don't understand the fixation on crash honestly.

It's gotta be one of those

Deadpooled2894d ago (Edited 2894d ago )

Maybe that new IP Space game they wanted to make after the last of us 2?

I think Crash will be handed to a different developer but with guidance from Mark Cerny and Naughty Dog, maybe bring back a Crash bash style game or Crash Team Racing (Media Molecule could do that bringing in ideas from that little big planet karting racer, or if only Evolution was still around some members of them could have taken the mantle?) Don't know but whatever happens it will be a great E3 event this year.

nix2893d ago

Eight Days. They can take over that game.

Deadlead2893d ago (Edited 2893d ago )

If the next ND project turns out to be a new sci fi/ space themed ip my head might actually explode from excitement! @Ashlen I agree starting from Savage Starlight would be an awesome link between universes.

Ashlen2894d ago

Personally I'm hoping it's Savage Starlight. A game based on the comic book from TLOU.

-Foxtrot2894d ago

I'd rather see a game similar to Savage Starlight

I wouldn't want a game based on a comic within another game. It wouldn't feel..."real" if you know what I mean. I'd probably keep thinking "this is all within the Last of Us universe and it's completely fiction" despite the games themselves being fiction

So no...I hope it's based or inspired by SS, not actually being SS it's self.

Imalwaysright2894d ago (Edited 2894d ago )

Yeah a science fiction game or maybe a western would be great.

Ashlen2894d ago

I think it would be very cool to easter egg it like that. Savage Starlight was pretty cool and it had interesting characters. I always liked cartoon crossovers and the like. When characters from one cartoon would appear in other cartoon universes. Something that was popular ironically enough in comic book cartoons like Batman and Justice League which was nothing but a crossover etc.

-Foxtrot2894d ago

Yeah but it still links in too much with the Last of Us

I want a new world, something which feels real...not something which is based on a comic book inside another game.

I don't see what's wrong with a game similar to it, just call it "Starlight", with just as similar characters. Then the easter egg in the Last of Us would just be a hint of what they were going to do next.

Ashlen2894d ago (Edited 2894d ago )

I just don't have a problem with that. In fact it makes it more appealing to me. And as far as realism goes. That just isn't even something I think about. I don't want to seem like i'm a person who doesn't get into games because I definitely do. But a link from one game to another doesn't effect that at all. Like having a Crash Bandicoot easter egg mini-game in U4 had no diminishment of enjoyment or emersion. I thought it was great, I love easter eggs and things like that.

AnotherProGamer2894d ago (Edited 2894d ago )

The guy who leaked Sony Bend new IP said Naughty Dog are making a Sci-fi game

Ashlen2894d ago (Edited 2894d ago )

I don't know if this has anything to do with anything. I would say "I highly doubt it" but there was this article a while ago.

Naughty Dog visits SpaceX

http://www.gamespot.com/art...

starchild2894d ago

Yeah, I would love a sci-fi game from Naughty Dog. I think it could be amazing.

Erik73572894d ago

Just looked that up, looks really cool!

Scholla2894d ago

I hope its 'Dawn of the Wolf'. A game based on the movie poster from TLOU.

nveenio2893d ago

If Mass Effect wasn't coming, maybe I could see them trying to fill that void. But that would be a pretty big franchise to challenge. The Last of Us has no competitors. I could see something in the spy/secret agent genre, but I don't know how compelling that would be, as we're all used to Bourne and Bond.

I like the sound of that idea, Fox.

As a big Naughty Dog fan, looking forward to their next announcement. Hopefully it is this year.

Get_A_Job_Foxtrot2894d ago (Edited 2894d ago )

Fox, where do u get these TERRIBLE ideas? Your ideas are always so left-field out of nowhere. What even made you think a cop game would play like uncharted? They going to scale mountains like monkeys? Make no sense.

Please never apply as a game designer in the industry. Just...no.

-Foxtrot2894d ago (Edited 2894d ago )

" What even made you think a cop game would play like uncharted?"

Eight days...the cancelled third person action adventure game which was going to be made by Sony London

...

Oh sorry I guess your speechless since you now know you're wrong. Next time before you become bitchy to someone, think things through princess.

Get_A_Job_Foxtrot2894d ago (Edited 2893d ago )

@Foxtrot:
Sony London isn't Naughty Dog. And Sony would use Sony Santa Monica or any of it's other studios who are known for doing collaborations and polishing up games that were in development hell. Good try, but you gotta do better than that lol.

Also I notice you are on here 24/7. How's that job search going for you? You're like the Tommy character from Martin show. You ain't got no damn job, maaaaaaaaan!

-Foxtrot2893d ago

Didn't say they were going to finish Eight Days off, I just used it as a point to counter your ridiculous "where would you get that idea" and how they could do a buddy cop game which plays like Uncharted.

Oh look the little guy is continuing being bitchy. by trying to say I've got no job...I have 2 jobs actually, at work now...it's called a smart phone with 3g. Get yourself a tampon and chill the hell out.

shuvam092893d ago

Sad that Sony had both kind of games with Pursuit Force and Syphon Filter...
They should hand out the IP's like they did with LBP3...
Don't waste'm Sony...

I'm hoping tlou 2. Aside from that game, I'd like for them to make something in a different genre.

crazychris41242894d ago

We all know it's The Last of Us 2

Ashlen2894d ago (Edited 2893d ago )

*there are spoilers*

Ya know, I really hope it's not. The magical thing about Joel's decision at the end was the idea that it was humanity's last chance. And that the people that Joel killed were the last scientists with the knowledge to make the cure. That was what made his decision so heart wrenching.

For me making TLOU 2 would be like making Uncharted 5 staring Nathan Drake with a cheesy oh he didn't really die explanation.

SirBradders2893d ago

But it wasn't 100% certain the cure could be made, it was all a gamble if I remember rightly because they tried and failed before.

Ashlen2893d ago (Edited 2893d ago )

I'm not saying that isn't true.

I'm just saying the beauty of the story was that humanity was doomed. The whole title "The Last of Us" implies that it was the last of humanity. Let the story go, it was amazing. Naughty Dog can make other great games. Let TLOU stand on it's own as a masterpiece of storytelling. Don't cheapen with sequels.

Thats what i'm saying.

P.S. I knew that post would be unpopular but I felt it needed to be said anyways.

KyRo2893d ago

I don't get why people say there should never be a TLoU 2. Do you really think that they saw that village in the distance and set off there and lived happily ever after? No. Anything could of happened at the end of the game. It's left wide open for a sequel if anything.

F0XHOUND2893d ago

reckon you could maybe give some kind of warning before you explode uncharted 4's story for me? thanks.... start talking about tlou2 and then randomly throw in Nathan is dead, I'm guessing this is a spoiler from uncharted 4, which I'm yet to play :(

deafdani2893d ago

Did you just spoil the end of Uncharted 4?

I haven't finished it yet. You are a fucking idiot.

Ratty2893d ago

Neil Druckman already said that if they do make a sequel it wouldn't be about the cure and it would follow something else entirely even if they reuse the same characters.

gobluesamg2893d ago

You Sir are a piece of sh!t for throwing in the ending to Uncharted 4 during a conversation about a sequel to the Last of Us.

Teaser revealed at PlayStation Experience with a 2018 release

rivaldoo7772894d ago

Lol You should be a writer lolllll

WeAreLegion2894d ago

It was from concept art. Doesn't take away from the great imagery though.

Get_A_Job_Foxtrot2894d ago (Edited 2894d ago )

Here me out fully please: To keep up with the gloomy atmosphere and ending of TLOU, they should make the next game ia prequel. Bringing back Ellie AFTER the last game cheapens the impact of the ending from the first game. That's like bringing back Sopranos after it's incredibly chilling ending. It's best that their story lives on in our mind. Knowing the human race is doomed because of Joel, is what makes it fit with the tragic, gloomy feel of the game.

BUT I know everyone loves Ellie. Maybe, they can make a similar character (her mom) in a prequel showing how she became immune. Do remember, the poster of a pregnant woman and it looked like Ellie, but with a gas mask (Ellie doesn't need a gas mask). This image is an easter egg in Uncharted 4.

deafdani2894d ago

Honestly, if they make TLOU 2, I hope they leave Joel and Ellie alone. I don't want to see a story where the Fireflies find them again, and pursue them to try and make a cure out of Ellie again. (Or Ellie finding out that Joel lied, and going to seek the Fireflies by herself, or anything along these lines, really). That would make the whole of TLOU 1 pointless.

Nope, it would be more interesting if they find a new story. The setting of TLOU is rich with opportunities to explore, and tell stories that go far beyond that of Joel and Ellie's. Seriously, the ending of the first game was amazing as it is, and it would be tainted if the sequel has Joel and Ellie as protagonists again.

How about a story about the Fireflies, for example?

LoveSpuds2893d ago

I agree, the universe is so interesting the possibilities for new characters and locations are endless. Maybe set it outside of the US even?

Such a good game to me. Crazy how different peoples opinions can get.

Crows906h ago(Edited 6h ago)

For me it wasn't that surprising. There was some bad press before. There's also the matter and element of a person's disposition when trying out a certain game. Sometimes you're just not really into the type of game that you're playing so you put it down because you don't like it. Not necessarily because it's a bad game but because you're just not up for something like this. Reviewers have a tough because no matter what they feel like playing they've got to play what's releasing.

I have many times gone back to games that I put down only to thoroughly enjoy them the second time around because either there wasn't another exciting game coming out around the same time or I just had no other games to play and haven't played that type of game in a while. I'm not the type of person that can just play a souls game through all this iterations one after the other without getting burnt out on the formula.

In my opinion this game was great from the start. Some bugs here and there but nothing worse than the most AAA releases during the same time after and before. All I did was wait one week and I had a phenomenal time with the game. No other zombie survival game comes close to how I thoroughly enjoyed this one

-Foxtrot5h ago(Edited 5h ago)

Yeah I thought it was pretty decent, it had its flaws but for their first big console single player open world game it's a solid 8/10.

I have never seen an AAA "zombie" game feature as many enemies as the horde sections did, you really had to think about your surroundings and plan carefully.

I feel journalists had an issue with this game from the moment it was announced, they really didn't like the Biker characters and the overall Biker gang theme. If they were anything else I feel it would have had a better chance or at least they'd overlook some of the flaws like they do for certain other open world games. They don't mind waiting weeks or months for a patch knowing its coming but a game that has it Day 1 it's suddenly a big no no? Yeah this was one of those moments that showed you how they cherry pick who to suddenly decide to go harsh on when they want to.

mkis0075h ago

Ill never forget the reviewer who tried to claim the "ride me like you ride your bike" line was anything but a joke...they (sarah and deacon) explicitly call it a joke and the reviewer still misinformed the reader about it as if it was a literal thing.

Michiel19894h ago

the score on metacritic is 71 from journos, its 9 points lower than your review so stop making stuff up. They didn't hate it from the start, they on average just liked it slightly less than you.

-Foxtrot4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

@Michiel1989

I'm not making anything up, they held a grudge against it and made stuff up themselves like mkis007 has just pointed out. That 71 on Metacritic is why it didn't get a sequel.

Anyway how can I make anything up when I didn't even mention metacritic in my original post?

Leeroyw6h ago

Second act of that game far surpassed the first. Which is why people felt it didn't live up to the hype of the trailers. Personally I loved it. But it was a slog to get your bike and weapons up to skill.

Inverno6h ago

Was gonna post a brick wall of text but I'll keep it short. Pardon my French but f**k the media for the hate they gave this game. If you have a PC to play it on you can get it as low as 10 bucks, and if you have a PS then it's a no brainer. Totally worth a play.

phatak6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

I don't even comment here often but had to for this game, I still stand by my opinion that this was one of the top 10 games of the ps4 generation, I preferred days gone over god of war, horizon and last of us 2, the launch version was definitely piss poor and that messed up the reviews for this game, honestly some games deserve a re-review or post patch review as the metacritic score stays forever but the reality is its not even the same game anymore, the ps5 patch is amazing and the pc version which I play on nowadays is one of the best looking games ever, complete shame that we wont get a sequel, god of war got one, horizon got one, last of us got one, spider man got one, ghosts of tshushima about to get one but this game wont get one, sucks to be honest.

Ps3/360 era had some hidden underated games for me it was shadows of the damned, alice madness returns that deserved more sales and a sequel/ higher scores, and similarly for the ps4 era it was days gone, and dying light 1 that deserved much more love, dying light atleast got a sequel, everyone needs to play this game once and judge for themselves, for me its officially the most underrated game of the ps4 era, go play it if you haven't.

andy855h ago

Awesome game. Just bought it for my laptop last week
