@SantistaUSA - Don't worry, the MPAA and RIAA are pumping back money into their pockets. Doing good for your people *PFFF* That's for loser politicians. /s
The ironic thing is yesterday I sat down and thought to myself, 'if "piracy" is so rampant why not just attack the sharing sites???'.. Waking up this morning to find this.. BAM! Talk about coincidence!
Lets hope the other sharing sites take this into consideration seeing that they might be next on the list!
mediashare is better imo i still hate the fact that they shut down megaupload but atleast with mediashare free users dont have to wait 40 seconds to download.
if you have a free account you only wait 25 second, but still like megaupload more than mediafire mainly because they offer more, like megavideo for example :(
I believe it was reported that the reason they were able to take down Megaupload without SOPA/PIPA was because they were charged with knowing that piracy was happening and that they didn't take the proper steps to stop it, even encouraging it. Basically they claim they have proof of them encouraging or doing the piracy, and not just users doing the piracy. They had to work with other countries for over 2 years in a investigation.
SOPA/PIPA on the other hand would allow them to mess with sites even if they are taking proper measures to stop piracy or even if they didn't know about it, which they currently can't do. Also it would allow them to take more actions against foreign sites a lot easier like stopping there ad revenue. Plus it allows them to take action more quickly and gives them a lot more power.
This is wrong. Megaupload comply with all DMCA take down notices and very quickly at that. The reason it got shut down was because of some stupid employees who were using a separate website to sell links of Pirated software to make money. This gave the feds the munition they needed to get into talks with new zealand and shut them down.
No your wrong actually, it was said that while they did take down links with notices under DMCA, they only removed 1 link to the content and not all the links and didn't actually remove the content from there servers, according to what they are being charged with. You should read the charges especially numbers 21 - 23.
There saying that Megaupload deliberately tried to make there site look legit under DMCA, but it was not...
Now this want there being charged with, which may not be true, but the question was what is the point of SOPA/PIPA if they can do this... not if the charges are true or not.
Why is it that Megaupload gets shutdown in the US that I from the UK can't access it? Does the American government speak for the entire world with the internet? Don't really follow the laws all that much but there is something seriously fucked up if a ruling in America can stop someone from a completely different country from accessing something.
Actually thinking about it I can only assume the megaupload servers are located in America which would then give them a right to shut them down.
"Does the American government speak for the entire world" They have been trying to do this for years, Look at their military bases all over the damn world.
With all the Problems in the US I can't believe they'd waste the Money and time on Piracy. This just shows how Corrupt the Government ready is.. Big Business Holds all the Power with there Pockets..They are going to transfer those guys to US for Court.. Wonder how Fair this is going to be... Also I haven't seen one report on this from a US New report..
THIS IS BAD!!
That means many other file hosts could be at risk. The end is near.
Oh wow FUCK YOU FBI AND SOPA :'(
Well that explains why I can't download a mod for World of MMA 3.
Greedy bastards.
megaupload was my favorite of them all
