Depends.. budget, performance you need, etc.. if you want the fastest, there is no competition and no other choice than nVidia. They hold the crown for the top fastest cards on the planet. If you're on a budget, AMD will do but you won't get the performance you could get with nVidia. SLI scaling is also much better and nVidia drivers are better as well.
