Google confirms first feature for Android’s Gingerbread release

Icrontic.com writes: "Google yesterday announced the WebM project, a royalty-free audio/video format. In conjunction with the announcement, Google also confirmed the first facts about the Gingerbread release of Android: it will support WebM playback and is slated for release in Q4 2010."

WebM playback may not take off as much as Google would like. Reports yesterday surfaced that quality may indeed be sacrificed for the better bandwidth. Personally I hope it does take off.
