FCC's 'Third Way' Criticized for Over-Regulation

Several market-based groups on Tuesday slammed the Federal Communications Commission's plan to re-classify broadband as a telecommunications service, accusing the agency and the Obama administration of over-regulating an industry that they say has thrived without federal intervention.

The commission's efforts "provide further evidence that the Obama administration has not met an industry that it does not want to control," Tom Schatz, president of Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) said during a press conference.

Schatz accused the FCC of creating an "Internet police force to address a problem that does not exist."
