Cloud computing has hit a tipping point, as cloud vendor SuccessFactors broke the 1 million-user barrier by signing a contract with a 2.1-million-user customer, probably Wal-Mart.
SuccessFactors CEO Lars Dalgaard announced the milestone Monday in an earnings conference call with analysts.
He declined to name the client, but Raymond James analyst Terry Tillman says it's probably the world's No. 1 retailer.
Cloud computing is remaking the software industry based on new designs that let small networks of servers in data centers scale up delivery of applications to millions of users over the Internet.
