Juno Collects New Data About Jupiter’s Great Red Spot

This morning, the spacecraft Juno focused its instruments on Jupiter's Great Red Spot. Juno was 5,600 miles from the top of the storm, the closest flyby ever performed. We won't receive the data for a few more days, but the potential is incredible.

You said it! Not only updated and better photos of the Great Red Spot, but also the first photos of the poles, not to mention all that data from beneath the cloud cover. It'll be sad when Juno deorbits and is vaporized, but that data will be amazing as well. Damn, space exploration is friggin cool.
