It's really a shame if it's truly on the way out. It's, so far, the only deserving heir to the overwhelming advantage of CRT technology--i.e., self-emissive pixels, leading to unparalleled native contrast, black level, uniform illumination, and unchanging brightness and color at all viewing angles. OLED is not nearly good enough yet (if it ever will be). Backlit technology will never overcome its severe handicap against self-emissive tech.
